It’s pretty clear that this venture is a bust. Rabbit R1 review: an unfinished, unhelpful AI gadget - The Verge
If DOS was reviewed back in the 80’s the way the R1 is being reviewed now, we’d all still be working on mostly paper, have no internet, let alone an AI. Be patient. Its new, its constantly evolving and given that everyone has different ideas on what should be priority for development, it is never going to please everyone regarding timelines.
How is that clear? They are updating the device every single week with thousands of happy customers, me included.
The device is trying to do something different and it will take some time for it to find its identity.
With the beta rabbit I’m using it multiple times a day for a wide variety of things.
How can I even use the device if I can’t even register it? Are you kidding?
There are literal tens of thousands of users who has registered their device. I recommend opening up a ticket in the discord or contacting their support.
I did that 3 weeks ago. Not a peep. This is not even ready for Beta. This is an Alpha product
not a toy, just junk
I feel like most people are buying this for an amazing companion, not for the AI. I love doing queries for AI information. I generally are NOT using the Apps. So it confuses me when people come in and say this.
I get it to a point people wanted it to track tasks, make reminders, run various sets of functions. Maybe I just set these as over the bar expectations, or least that I’d see upfront.
I don’t order food online to be delivered… Spotify goes on my PC most times, not R1 - I can’t see why for such sound quality compared to my other speaker options, Suno is cool, but I use it sparingly in my discord, Midjourney is cool to be able to vocalize prompts but they really don’t touch what I can do in Discord or the website.
Otherwise the AI is great for quick answers to questions I have on the Go. Its not like ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity where I have to start a new prompt when a question goes bad, I can jam PTT and override and correct it easy.
I like it for AI Access myself… Maybe I am just odd.
The features adding to this and expected are reliably rolling out.
I often have to side with what I heard Jesse say I think for some people this isn’t really a Device for them, or maybe its not in line with their expectations or use cases? I don’t know. I do 30+ queries a day.
Well looks like I am not alone with my first experiences with the Rabbit. I don’t use any of the few services that are available so its not much more then a cute little paper weight at the moment.
BUT then last weeks update came out and I found it would connect to Suno. I never heard of that and signed up. I created some amazing songs with it. I have a friend that is starting to get dementia and used to have a colorful musical career. I made him a song about his life and he heard it and cried, it touched him deeply. So thanks Rabbit for helping me find that. To be fair, I couldn’t get Rabbit to pull up the songs I made so I had to do it on the computer. I hope that will be improved.
BUT all that to say, I am still holding out hope for great things to come. For now it may be sitting on my desk as a paper weight but it still makes me smile and I’m looking forward to more experiences with it.
So wait you bought the R1 knowing what it is capable of, and now are mad that Spotify needs a connection to Spotify to work, and MidJourney needs a connection to work? I’m not really sure what you were expecting out of this device but it sounds like you were expecting some unrealistic thing.
I honestly feel like people really don’t take a second to think about how useful this device is. I already use it every day at work, and all the connections that it has at the moment are just icing on the cake.
I like it. I bought in knowing that it was a risk. Just like the smart speakers, it will grow and get better with more capabilities I hope. Meanwhile, I get excited for updates. It is convenient just to have a physical button to press to ask questions. It looks cool and I’ve made people laugh with it. I’ll keep it. Oh … and I have a hope that it will be compatible with a sales CRM that I use. Wishful thinking.
l was hoping that there would be the option to use other Music streaming services . l pay for Youtube Premium, and would really like to use that service instead of Spotify.
So far it blows Apple Siri away and puts Alexa to shame . Even chat gpt that I downloaded to my iPhone is a bust . All u get is scripted common answers
Rabbit seems to really get into your questions and digs deep for in-depth answers not the common place everyone knows answers . I think as you talk to it and make it work it will learn more and more . Yes there is the occasional hic-up like heading back to Menü, but all u have to do is ask a different way . We also need to learn how to talk to AI .
I think it’s a great addition to us . Just got to learn the lingo . I like that its answers aren’t main stream media . It’s refreshing
Funny as it should had been just natural language not about prompting correct
Yes but it is an AI . So even in natural language I guess you can say u have to make things clear .
R1 giving me chest pains
Guys it cost $200 vs your smartphone cost $1000+ keep that in mind
I give it a second try … and thought maybe it could at least be a funny toy … maybe for my childs. But sadly I quick realized that it would even not do it as a toy. I can imagine it’s nice for young children to walk around with such a device, talking to it, asking questions, getting answers, making magic pictures… But stop, here it’s already to much … the device doesn’t show the results on it’s proper screen… That’s the point where even children will let it drop. Useless! Sorry, but that’s such a big fake that I am close to say it’s a big act of betraying people and making much of money with a little orange plastic box that is like new version of #TAMAGOTCHI
With some more efforts and a smaller price it might have a future as toy for little children of our future human community. But for the adult and professional market there is a hole universe of development to cross …
Jesse Lyu Cheng: If you can’t think big stop thinking!
Could you send it to me in Italy free of charge? I’ll pay the delivery.
Or even I can pay you 99$, so I’LL divide your pain :)))
