Perfect device for a child

Hi.

To be honest. The r1 device is so limited that I reckon is a virtue. Rabbit r1 allow to be managed by child; no internet, good for their scholar period, etc. Maybe you should to boost this option. It’s not a criticism, it’s a re-direction of the investment I’ve made in this device. I think it is very successful. It is a perfect assistant for my child , I control via rabbit hole his concerns and limit his exposure to the internet when he is still gaining awareness as a person.

When he is able to interact in Spanish, the step will be definitive.
In any case, great device.

Thanks in advance.

actually, that’s why I let my 8 year old, and my 14 year old play with it.

Figure there’s minimal harm from it.

The both love changing the r1’s name, and the user’s name

There’s a tweet floating around where R1 had a uhhh… less than thoughtful response about Santa Claus… That, and the fact that LLMs are essentially magic boxes that we can INFLUENCE but not 100% control/guarantee outcomes for are what make me hesitant to push for marketing the current setup for kids.

Can we figure out a safe way to do it? 100% (ok, maybe 99.9%) Will it happen tomorrow? Probably not.

TLDR; I want you to know that I appreciate the trust you have in us when you let your kids play with R1 - but you’ve got at least one engineer pushing back against it right now, because if you’re showing us that trust, we need to know that we’ve earned it

My 6-year-old son loves the r1, as well. He has so much fun with music, and “What’s this?” photo function.

Keep the updates coming ~

THANK YOU

Oh yea, I would not market the LLM stuff for kids, but I let me kiddos use it while I listened from across the room.

I’m not the kind of parent to just leave my kids to do whatever and disregard safety.
But so far, the r1 has been reasonably safe most of the time with them.

Outside a few random corrections.
