Rabbit in Australia

How many Rabbit r1 in Australia?

I got mine yesterday, July 6th 2024, and am curious to see what community we may have down under.

Australians are known to be early adopters of consumer technology so lets share our local experience here and get to know each other.

Cheers :beers:

Hi, I’m based in Melbourne with a new pet. So far this pet is very limited in its capabilites and I feel like I need to try and work out how to use it beyond being chatgpt in a cute little box. Would love some suggestions.

Hi Selina,

I have been experimenting with the voice recorder. As I type I am watching a Youtube video on Apple TV and recording the audio with r1.

r1 will record the audio, upload it to RabbitHole and then produce a text based summary of it. I am hoping watching the show and then looking over the summary will help me with learning about new ideas and give me a reference document to refer back to.

If this works as expected its worth the price of the Rabbit to me.

all my life, I am now 71, I’ve been a gadget guy so learning about new technology, setting it up and finding out what t can do with it is always fun.

I am also thinking about how useful it might be for early childhood development. A kids coach and playmate when they are too young for the cost and complexity of a smartphone.

Love to hear your thoughts on this.

Cheers

Hi Jase,
71 and still early adpoting! So good!!
It’s been in the hands of my 7 year old. Using it to translate Japanese Pokemon cards but becomes frustrated when the Rabbit wont give an estimate price for what it is worth lol.And hoped that it could use its vision to categorise and organise a table full of them. One day …! He’s also been trying to get it to play audiobooks off spotify but it took 20 times to find the one he was exactly after. It always defulted to a music version despite exact prompts.

Oh and also he’s been using it to take photos of people and asking Rabbit to guess their ages. The responses have been wildly accurate.

Another Vic Rabbit here. So far so good with the r1, but very limited capabilities, although I hope that will change with each update.

I have one in Perth.

Sydney user here.

Really liking the design, though do have some irks with the ergonomics of the button and wheel.

Hoping the new features bring in the functionality we’ve been expecting. Keeping tabs on Rabbitude’s progress as well for an alternative.

Hey! Albury/Wodonga user here! Really enjoying my experience with the device and everyday I find new uses

Hi, Armidale NSW

As there are less services available in AU, I got a mid journey subscription for more generative play. Feed a description of a vision entry into mid journey.

Hi all,
Another VIC user here. I am having fun exploring using my r1 in different contexts.

  • putting together some suggested meal plans (with complicated family diet requirements), create a shopping list then remind me what was on the list while I was shopping
  • Creating draft queries and formulas at work
  • Testing my knowledge and understanding of common Product Management frameworks
  • Fun with magic camera and suno
  • Recording and summarising discussions
  • Creating humorous poems and providing ‘dad’ jokes
  • Conducting a mock job interview and coaching me on ways to improve my responses

I am growing an appreciation for my r1. Yes -all of these things could be done on my phone. But to do these things on a phone requires first deciding which AI app to use. And my phone puts me in a context that is frankly polluted with notifications, advertising, doom-scrolling social app traps etc.

I get it.

I’m assuming that both the image interpretation AI and the image genAI clearly don’t understand AFL - but this giant rabbit umpire adds a new angle to the concept of a centre bounce!
And having eight footballs in play would add another dynamic…

Am in the Newcastle area, got it 12/7/24 Batch 6.

Interesting gadget, Magic Camera is fun but also leaves me questioning if the images are being matched from a library - some are close features and others wildly different.

Have to try guess the age.

Heading to the Sydney Zoo tomorrow so son will have fun with it.

Got mine on 2nd July. It is just a baby, Google voice search is 95% good and super fast, r1 about 2% and very slow. Every day ask the simple " Tell me a joke, you have not told me before" voice test is a good benchmark, every day.

Hi all - In Sydney. Quick one - has anyone got Spotify to work? I keep getting it locked out as google doesn’t like the idea someone from USA is trying to access my account. Basically - I can’t get any of the linked services to work and can’t find anywhere on the forums that this is even being worked on.

I haven’t tried Spotify as I have Apple Music. I wasn’t able to connect my Apple Music to Rabbit as I wasn’t in the USA.

I was only curious to see if it worked so haven’t looked further into it.
