The $200 price point, the form factor, the simple interface, and Jesseās Jobsian spunk. Low cost, high potential reward. The ability to control other devices is very compelling. Also, I have a strong use case for a dedicated push-to-talk device: Iām working on an intellectual-property concept. I can imagine having an idea or wanting to fetch a visual for someone and being able to do it on the R1 in less time and effort than doing it on my phone.
Unfortunately, I havenāt used my R1 since I received it. I brought it to work, only to find that it cannot connect to hidden networks. I may end up giving it to one of my older in-laws.
I watched the keynote back in January, learned about teach mode, realized its potential and took out my wallet without thinking twice.
Here we are in July, with teach mode still missing and competition breathing down Rabbitsā neck. From a consumer pov, Iāll most likely make a switch if teach mode comes out and itās not from Rabbit, but another company / product . Rabbit has good marketing, tho
One of my guiding concepts is that technology is not about the devices we own but the uses we make of them. So said, Iām all but a fanboy.
I decided to buy a Rabbit r1 driven precisely by this statement, convinced not so much that devices like this (or Humane AI Pin) could be the new iPhone - I donāt care at all - but rather that they are the hardware embodiment of the paradigm that artificial intelligence is a commodity that we will soon no longer be able to do without.
What particularly struck me about what many hastily define the r1 as a badly done gadget is the bet on making AI capable of moving from words to deeds. In short, act.
As the Rabbit r1 LAMs become more mature and the platform allows for more training and learning capabilities, Iām sure our little rabbit will become a technological companion that will be hard to part with.
I bought the R1 (and a Flipper, and why I contribute to IFTTT) for the same reasonsā¦experimenting in disruptive tech that helps me better understand the underlying dynamics of the problem I am trying to solve. The R1 is an open ended device that has so many possibilities. But first, I see it as a dedicated purpose real language voice I/O system that I want to see how far it goes with the concept. Voice interaction in natural language, for the amount of man-years that iOS, AOS, Echo, and Google home has had to perfect it is still not resolved - still I yell at Siri or my Echo Dot or Google Home just to play a song. I want a JARVISā¦maybe Rabbit R1 is a step closer toward that. Itās always fun working with what could become disruptive technology.
got it as toy for the kids to ask the internet questions without letting them on a phone or computer.
turns out they are less inquisitive than i expected and is looking like itāll be repurposed to be a music player until teach mode or another killer app is released
I wanted the Rabbit r1 device using itās AI capabilities separate from my Smartphones.
I did like the Camera not pointing at me 24/7. The camera turns down when the r1 device is not being used.
The CEO made a very good sales pitch for Rabbitās capabilities in a very appealing ORANGE hand-held device.
And after receiving my Rabbit r1 device on the 5th July 2024 I was very surprised in the HIGHEST QUALITY EVER. The quality is excellent in the orange device itself & the glass casing it cames in is also awesome.
Drugs, as alwaysā¦ But when I came to my senses again, I thought, hey, this thing is really cool! Just kidding, no, I got drunk on lots of booze and some women and thenā¦ No! Just kidding again! But seriously! It was a certain one and only person @jesse ā¦ When r1 was presented at its first public launch and I fell in love immediately. I mean in r1, I mean Jesse, I love you of course, but I love my r1 a little bit more, I hope thatās okay for youā¦ But seriously, Iāll try, really. I think r1 is just mega genius! If it really does ever reach at least the state that Jesse says it should reach, then this invention is clearly the next technical milestone after Steve Jobs with his iPhone. I mean folks, as owners of r1, are you really aware of what a mega genius device youāre holding in your hands? I do! And thatās why I love it, and of course Jesse too, and of course everyone who made this really cool device in my hand possible in the first place. Yes, I know I have a big heart, but it really does fit everyone who wants to get in. In any case, Iām grateful that the people in charge, who had everything in their hands, also had the courage to make r1 a reality. Thank you @rabbit , i love You @all ā¦
Itās simple for meā¦ I bought it because i like to leave my smartphone at home or at least out of reach much of the time. The R1 allows me to do this and still have questions answered or help with tasks.
I bought one because Iām an interaction designer with a focus on human centered (emerging) technology and especially designing concepts for generative AI for the last 2,5 years. I really believe in the tech and love to experiment and built with/for it.
Yes! But expect an answer from the big players with their assistants soon. (Iām hoping Rabbit takes the experimental and open route providing lotās of playful customization in opposition to the giants)
I used mine in front of my skeptical kids and after several disdainful glances the older one took it from me and started taking pictures of everything he could think of.
I am delighted with the camera option but resist the temptation to share things everywhere.
Curiosity in Ai. Not sure if we have a sliver of that with the r1 yet, still hopefully they can speed up development so basic search engine are not still the goto due to their current response speed.
