Hi Community, @rabbit, @simon,
currently, if two rabbit r1 devices are connected to the same network with the same hostname (e.g., “r1” as default name for all devices), it can lead to significant connectivity problems and confusion in device management. This situation can hinder users from effectively accessing and managing their devices, especially in environments where multiple units are deployed.
To enhance user experience and prevent these conflicts, I propose the addition of a feature in the settings that allows users to change the hostname of their rabbit r1 devices. This functionality would enable better identification and management of devices within a network, reducing potential issues related to duplicate hostnames.
Additionally, I suggest that the default naming convention could include a hyphen followed by the user’s name taken from contact info section (e.g., “r1-username”). This would ensure that each device has a unique identifier right from the start.
