My R1 Rattles like something is loose

How many of you have a rattly R1 and does it affect the way it works?

I have seen several such cases come by, usually after the r1 was dropped / bumped against a hard surface. Rough handling could have even happened during shipping, so I’m not pointing fingers…
The rattling is often caused by a screw that has broken off (usually around the scroll wheel). It is a metal screw, so yes, it can affect the way your r1 is working.

The big question is if the r1 is still under warranty. If so, then contact support.
If it is no longer under warranty and you are tech savvy, then you may want to consider opening up the r1 to fix the issue. I have photo’s of the inside and some more data if you want to go that direction. (Send me a DM)

PS: (intended for Rabbit staff reading this message) - I have not opened up my own r1! :wink:

I barely had mine for two weeks when it started rattling, wasn’t dropped and it wasn’t taken anywhere outside my home. Support have sent me a brand new one (after a very long drawn out process) I have received it today, opened it and it too has a rattle and it hasn’t even been turned on. Is this a common problem? Maybe I should’ve just gotten a refund.

I have the same issue. Never bumped or knocked it. It just happened one day for no apparent reason

So this happened to my first rabbit r1 out of the blue it just randomly started making a rattling noise. I opened it up to repair it and there were two screws loose and it was from the camera so just took them out and then put it back together. Worked fine every time I would try to use the camera it would crash. I reached out to the support team to see if I could have a new R one like if they would ship it because it was still under warranty and that was months and months ago, and they still haven’t written me back I’ve tried multiple times anyway I would suggest getting a new R one that is what I did and now the new bat seem not to have this problem but if you don’t want to get a new R1, it’s your options are kind of limited in reaching out to the support team because if you open it up, your warranty is gone.

They sent me a new one and on opening the brand new device it has a rattle too!! Literally haven’t even used it. :slightly_frowning_face:

Mine also started rattling a week or two after I started using it. It sounds like a tiny screw or something inside…

Except with mine the camera doesn’t align properly. They’ve sent me a new one and straight out the box it rattles, starting to think there’s no quality checks going on. Surely this doesn’t break so easily in transit :woman_shrugging:

i am experiencing this as well! fresh out of the box, there was rattling of a loose component in the top right quadrant. i ordered mine through amazon, so it is possible it wasn’t handled with care. i’ve reached out to support. :folded_hands:

I have the same problem. Purchased from Amazon.

They ended up sending me two replacements and they both were rattly and broken, seriously feel cheaply made. Feel like I was scammed

I returned the rattler while it was still under warranty from Amazon. The whole process was painless, and the new unit seems 100% so far.

I have buy this Rabbit R1 & after 2 Days in use. Have now the same Problem. What should i do now?

Hello to the Rabbit Team,

I wanted to send my Rabbit R1 back. Then I learned that international mail shipping to America had been discontinued. So I can’t send a package from Austria to the USA, even though I wanted to return it via Amazon. The post office did not accept the return. I have no way to send the rabbit back.
Please could you help me somehow?

Mine does exactly this and support never answers me… the device seems to work other than the battery dying after 2 questions

My R1 is rattling too. Support asked me several weeks ago to send a video with sound so they could hear the rattling. I’ve sent it twice, but I still haven’t heard back from them. In the meantime, I noticed that when I carry the R1 in my pocket while walking, diagonally with the camera facing down, the loose part somehow gets stuck again and the rattling stops. The rattling is gone for now, but it does tend to come back. Hopefully support will get in touch soon. You might also want to try whether the part gets stuck again on your device while carrieng in a certain Position.

Also really annoying rattling in mine. And support doesn’t reply. Coincidentally it started on the same day as I got the OS2 update, so kinda like a you-get-some-you-lose-some situation.

Only way I could get any answers from support was through Instagram messages, if that helps anyone here. I ended up getting a full refund after all the replacements they sent me all rattled.
