Hi,
My typical daily use of the r1 hasn’t changed since this update.
Before it, my battery over the whole day would drain to at most 75-70% remaining.
Since the LAM PGround update it’s now getting down to 20% and below consistently and last night went flat (I haven’t started using the Playground yet).
I have rebooted and also left it off overnight in case that might’ve helped - it didn’t.
I’d seen yours and was going to add to your thread though believe yours was pre-LAM PGround update?
Having said that, the drain is very similar to yours, I’d say mine is occuring over approx 15 hours in the day so not as dramatic. However, since the fix of the very early r1 battery woes in June/July, the team had fixed this and drain was across my 15 hours was down to at the very most 60%. In fact, because it was so efficient with battery, I stopped charging every day and could happy use a single charge over 2 days.
I’m back to 1 (overnight) charge per day. I’ll do more testing such as WiFi-only, Cellular only to see if any difference.
Hi,
only to add I’m experiencing a similari issue: after the 1st of October update (with the great playground news) I see an increased battery drain.
The difference is visibile and as far as I can see is not only happening using the new LAM playground.
But I’ll continue to use and test.
All, just to update, I’m doing very basic testing (would love to deep-dive analyse this but figure the tech team at Rabbit will see things much more clearly if they can replicate this (and my time very limited right now)) - switching to cellular-only I saw no slowdown in the drain.
It’s on WiFi-only today to see whether that might a factor.
As said, hopefully the tech team at Rabbit see this is a high priority (esp with all our posts ) to then jump on and resolve this. Fingers crossed!
same problem I use it in 4G not wifi let’s hope they solve it with the next update because this way it runs out of battery in a few hours without using it
I’ve noticed that when you unplug the R1 after it has been charging, the display stays on and doesn’t turn off until you press the PTT button. That can cause some battery drainage.
Today I used it for a little bit after work, and then put it in my drawer. It was at 75%. Later in the evening I took it out, it was HOT and it was at 15%. Not thrilled that it’s doing something to consume so much energy and getting hot without me touching it for a few hours. I guess I’ll have to power off whenever I’m done using it, which is a pain.
R1 is used as a proxy for LAM, making websites thinking the connexion is coming from you (same if the LAM goes on illegal websites…), that’s an easy way to escape the bot limit or requests limit.
Btw it ask using your data for it so it consume more electricity.
Ps: from informations i saw and my knowledge, only got my R1 few days ago.
Managed to get testing with just WiFi connection, then just cellular and found that cellular was draining my battery at approx 15% per hour. WiFi was better.
I saw Jesse’s post re the battery regression (thanks @jesse!) with LAM though I’ve made a point not to use LAM PGround at all yet to remove that as a possible factor (assuming not engaging it means I’m not affected by that regression mentioned by Jesse but I could be wrong.
I’ll now start to play with the PGround and hopefully this issue has enough attention to get a resolution soon.
Since the update last week w/e 22nd Nov (not last night’s) I’ve seen a marked improvement in with my r1’s drain. The update mentioned battery life improvement and am now going 2 days between charges.
