15th August OTA has landed! Discuss here:

15th August 2024:

beta rabbit can now help you get to where you want to go :compass:, and scroll wheel sensitivity has been upgraded. check it all out in the latest cloud + over-the-air (OTA) software update for r1 :musicrabbit:

what’s new? :new:

  • new beta rabbit capabilities (since beta rabbit is still in beta, some features may work better in some countries)
    • beta rabbit can now give you directions for going to places and help with timing, navigation prompts with different travel modes, including distance from A to B, planned routes, estimated travel times and cost of public transportation
    • ask beta rabbit to help you explore places around you – business hours of a museum, recommendations for food, nearby libraries and more
  • scroll wheel sensitivity has been fine-tuned to feel more natural and responsive

try these: :weatherrabbit:
“beta rabbit, what’s the closest McDonalds to me and how do I get there?”
“beta rabbit, how long does it take to drive from Manhattan to Brooklyn if i leave at 6pm today?”
“how much longer does public transportation take compared to driving? How much would public transportation cost?
“beta rabbit, how far away is Universal Studios from Venice Beach by car?”
“beta rabbit, i have a yoga class at 7pm at Mighty Pilates in Westwood Village. i also need to pick up something at CVS. if i leave at 6pm from [my address], would i make it in time for the class? which CVS should i go to? i’ll be driving.”

Also added to the release log! Enjoy, everyone

Hello @simon ,
Hi rabbit-team,

these update news are really amazing.:+1:
Love it.

I will test the new functions and give more test updates, too.

Great and incredible work for the last weeks.
Keep up the good work and thank you for your community support. :weatherrabbit: :listeningrabbit:

Location is still done via IP in my case, not GPS, so no precise location. For this reason, the new feature is useless at all at the moment, at least in my country/city. But good update for those that can take advantage of it.

The common assistant rely to your IP, Beta Rabbit is able to access the GPS module and get accurate location and directions.
So, try to say “Beta Rabbit” before your question.

(I’m in Italy and it works)

The scrolling is way better now! Is real smooth scolling a possibility? (I love the way the weather widget scrolls) I was also wondering if an autoscroll will work while the r1 is reading something, possibly even highlighting what it is reading at that moment.

I’m also exited about beta rabbit understanding where I am through my GPS coordinates. I keep having the ‘peter rabbit’ problem. Maybe it would be nice to also use peter rabbit as the keyword aswell.

Smooth scrolling would be even better than it is now after update. There could also be a dynamic effect: if you turn the scroll wheel with a lot of momentum, the text on the display could accelerate and then gradually slow down. But that is just a nice-to-have.

When it didn’t locate me correctly I was using beta rabbit. Without beta, the feature just don’t work.

I don’t know what kind of module is installed on the device, but assuming it is a mid/high-end hardware, if the location is wrong by a few meters (or hundreds of meters) the cause could be the morphology of the terrain or city buildings that screen/disturb the signal.

I’ll test my Rabbit in different places and I let you know!

It’s not a fes meters for me. It’s like 7 kilometers.
