Voting system : please Rabbit team

Dear Rabbit R1 Team, @rabbit @jesse @simon

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address a matter that has garnered significant attention and support within (y)our community: the integration of additional languages into the Rabbit R1. As you are aware, this suggestion has received the most votes by far in the suggestions section, highlighting its importance to a large number of users.

So, even though we know this integration is on your roadmap, could you please clarify if you are actively considering the votes and feedback from your users? If so, how might this influence your development schedule? We are eager to know if this feature request will be prioritized and would appreciate any updates on your progress.

Additionally, could you provide an approximate timeline for when we might expect the integration of additional languages and support for the metric system and Celsius? Such an enhancement would greatly improve the usability of Rabbit R1 for non-English speaking users around the world.

Good points.

  1. I think games is something useless for device which benefits screen time reduction and ADHD “fighting”. The good idea could be, in terms of games, the Unity plugin for exporting games to R1.With Unity plugin for Rabbit anyone who wants to play a game can develope a game and export to R1.

  2. Language support is still something good but…I enjoy the fact that not anyone can use this device, considering that there is no blocking screen, PIN or face recognition. The main privacy barier is the language. Especially in Italy it looks like an alien piece of technology and I like this

While it’s great to see the community engaged and suggesting features, I think we need to prioritize our focus and voting efforts.

Language support, as discussed in threads like This, This and That (and probably many more I was not aware of) should be a top priority. It’s crucial for expanding R1’s accessibility and usefulness to a global audience.

Meanwhile, voting for features already announced in the keynote (like alarms, calendars, and reminders planned for summer 2024) or niche ideas like games may not be the most effective use of our collective voice.

Here’s a reminder of what’s already planned, as shown in the keynote:

Perhaps we could channel our enthusiasm into:

This way, we can provide more valuable input to the Rabbit team and potentially influence development in meaningful ways.

Fair point i agree.

Still wish to know if these voting system is looked at and if it has any impact. And still want to have more details about anything concerning languages integration. As many others here.

Hey!

The voting system is one data point, yes, but there are other data points we consider, plus our own vision and business needs.

We are highly aware of the strong request for other language support, and are looking into it, but unfortunately as of right now I don’t have an update regarding timing.

I find R1 having following limitations, please correct me if I am wrong:

  1. no native languages: I bought R1 for my mother, she is almost blind, but she does not speak english, so for the moment I play with it, she cannot use it.

  2. If you set initially a wifi, and then you move to another wifi, you cannot ask R1 to go to settings and serch for new wifi if it is disconnected. You need to go back to initial wifi, set a phone hotspot, carry the hotspot with you and then set the new wifi

  3. play music: if you ask to play a song, automatically R1 play a playlist, so you need to ask to stop and sometimes R1 does not understand

  4. asking things: R1 generic and short answers, I can use directly chatGPT through phone or pc.

  5. I thought we could teach R1 to go to internet sites and teach it how to navigate through it, but I think this functionality is not yet operating. I wanted to teach R1 to go to local italian site to play podcast for my mother, but I can’t

Overall, I think R1 is just a nice useless additional hardware, as it makes less things than my phone. Please change my mind!

Thanks
Enrico

Yup. Maybe “business needs” understands someday language integration is the real deal. But yeah, you guys started a sponsorship program so your users sell rabbits, and as a non english native, I would never ever tell someone i respect to buy the R1.

Wouldn’t it be a good timing to give us (stupid and boring french, spanish, italian, german, japanese etc) a time frame for this major upgrade ?

Happy to confirm there is meaningful progress on the languages front.

There’s still a lot to be done, and I don’t have an ETA either.

But there is work being done and progress is being made for sure.

Will we consider r-cade some kind of minigame? We got some gamification with the latest update with the carrots.

Dear Simon, any news?

Hi, I created a new group: Rabbit r1 non English speaking users
