I was hoping …the Rabbit r1 device would have in it’s “SETTING” - “ABOUT” the option of checking for the latest software updates (as do all other devices for software updates) On Demand! …& being able to know this Rabbit r1 device has the latest software updates on this r1 device. …At the moment the Software updates are automatic from their cloud & we the frustrated customers HAVE TO WAIT! till these updates arrive! which can be quarterly, fortnightly, usually on a Thursday,
(so I’ve read on the Rabbits “Software Updates”). …I have asked about this waiting around for the Rabbit team to send off their latest software updates AND TYPICALLY the standard answer is: …“It’s AUTOMATIC & requires no action on your part” The other answer is: Requiring you to "ACCEPTING NEW FEATURES AND MORE SUPPORTED APPS, be connected to Wi Fi & a power source & wait for it to update - “then your good to go”
At present my Rabbit r1 in - SETTINGS - ABOUT gives me this information regarding…“r1OS version” 20240626.11/0.8.112(134D947) (other information is there as well). Please please please! Rabbit r1 tech GIVE US THIS OPTION TO INSTANTLY CHECK FOR THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATES AND DOWNLOAD THEM!!! Now! Not next week, Not next Fortnight, Not next Thursday! …This would give us confidence that the Rabbit r1 is working correctly. …Thank for any help here …Rick😁
Hi Rick!
So at the moment, there are two types of update, and they are both instant. I think you might be confusing the two with each other, but they are separate.
- Cloud updates
These happen, well, in the cloud. So as soon as that code is deployed, it works on your r1. This can happen at any time, but we usually do a recap within a fairly short order of time to announce them.
- OTA (Over The Air) Updates
When these get sent out, they currently are a mandatory update, that you’ll see pop up and install on your r1 as long as it’s connected to power and wifi.
So right now, if your r1 is up and operational, it’s guaranteed to be up to date.
The only reason we would need a “check for updates” button, is if we change the behaviour of the OTA to allow you to dismiss it, or to choose to install it later. Right now, there is no need for it since updates are automatic and mandatory when the code goes out.
