14th November 2024:

hi @everyone  big news today! a new over-the-air (OTA) update will be hitting your r1 shortly.

we’ve shipped a new feature - generative UI on r1! :weatherrabbit:

what we fixed: :listeningrabbit:

  • we’ve fixed the issue with reminders that appeared during the last OTA
  • many battery life fixes and improvements

what’s new? :musicrabbit:

  • generative UI
    • your r1 now creates AI-generated interfaces to more clearly display the results of many different kinds of queries.
    • you control the visual style! use our default look (inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion) or add your own custom style prompt in rabbithole settings. (see below for inspiration!)
    • the generative UI is slower than our default UI, so we’ve disabled it by default. to access, opt in via rabbithole (you can opt out at any time)

generative UI style prompt inspiration :bulb:
in rabbithole, opt in to try our new generative UI – then control the visual look by providing your own custom style prompt. to test a style prompt, just speak a query to your r1 which is likely to provide interesting results – like, “Show me the top tech news in California today.”

here are a few style prompt ideas to get you started:

  • “you are a talented front-end UI designer, and your favorite video game is Sonic The Hedgehog. you will generate a very high quality UI in this style, and it will look amazing”
  • “make everything orange”
  • “you are the chief designer on board the Death Star. design a pixel-perfect UI for the galactic empire”
  • “you will use sans serif font with 10px font size, slim margins and thin font weight. Use FF4D06 for accent color when needed”

enjoy - we can’t wait to see what kind of UI you make! be share to share photos with us.

for more info on how to use generative UI, you can check out our new support article here

Hi everyone, OTA notes above! I need to refactor the original thread as it may now be too long to keep adding notes to lol. I’ll work on that later.

I am not getting a thing: could I interact with the UI? For example: if it’s showing a LAM Playground actin for a website, Gmail for example, could I interact with it to trigger actions for the LAM?

I don’t believe you can interact with it, it is “just” a render the browser view of LAM playground. Still very useful though (if you can see the screen, that is).

I love this update! It’s just beautiful! Just copy the following custom prompt into your Rabbit Hole profile if you can’t think of anything yourself and have fun with your r1!

 :otarabbit:

Promt: “Let it look like a hologram in a white and orange with 3 big good visible and animated carrots in the background.”

Generative UI: I tried both the wheel and the touch screen for scrolling and for me it is more than obvious: the touch screen is the much better option! Please, never change this - everybody is used to scroll by touchscreen and it is really much better than the wheel.

And: it´s much easier to “jump around” in the answer with the touchscreen to look something up, which is not possible with the wheel. This is also the reason why I really don´t like the wheel for the settings, wishing me again the shake option to get out of the settings.

And: I recognized that the wheel ist not always working for scrolling, but the touchscreen is reliable.

Hi @simon ,

really really cool with this update today. :100:
I was really surprise, when I charged my r1 some minutes ago. :rabbit:

Do you have some further more detailed examples and aspects about the following points:

I am loving to do many tests and lessons for the beta teach-mode. So I am really interested about all things of the teach-mode. :slightly_smiling_face:

The scroll wheel is nice as a backup for situations in which you can’t use the touch screen (gloves) but I agree with @gerhard.gruber that the touch screen works much better for scrolling.

In my case the TouchScreen doesn’t work with GenUI. I can’t scroll the interface anyway.

I found that scrolling does not always work, sometimes not with the scroll wheel, sometimes not at all, depending on how the UI is rendered by GenUI.

What UI prompt are you using?

I was very happy that the scroll wheel is now enabled for generative UI as well. Already wanted to do a request for that.
Touch screen sometimes feels a little laggy, and I was used to using the scroll wheel, before. For me, having both enabled feels the best!

I saw that, too. It works more than it doesn’t.
