RabbitOS 2.0 is coming

That’s great to hear! Responsiveness is surely not that easy to reach with that hardware, so am looking forward to it (I think I noticed some stutters in your demo video, maybe they can get eliminated as well). Am curious to find out how the new UI will change the usability of the device for me (which tbh hasn’t been turned on in quite a while now).

I’d also be interested in alpha (or beta) testing

Me too . I would like to support the development progress, too. :handshake::slightly_smiling_face:

Yes beta testing seems like an enjoyable and helpful option for users.@simon

I don’t know if this is possible or if people want this so please whoever’s reading this comment whether you would like this or not or any suggestions but I think would be great. Like if on iPhone you know how you’re able to get
On a public beta and alpha beta from the settings page by enrolling on their website or what if rabbit let you enroll on the rabbithole to be a beta tester and then you could beta test on your R1. I don’t know this just sounds enjoyable and something that could possibly help the team anyway leave your comments or suggestions . Go rabbit @rabbit @jesse @simon

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any new information about RabbitOS 2.0 and its release date. Thanks a lot!

Hi !

Still no release date, the team is still adding new content to the OS and fixing bugs, I think it won’t be released before September, unless there is a good surprise

Hi, wanted to ask new OS 2.0 , will be with a new interface and touch menu , and thats all,??? Or more profound let me know please

If I’m not mistaken, the new OS will have a new interface, new features, there will be new R-cade mode, more fluidity, speed. They really want OS2 to change the minds of all the R1 detractors.

Hope so, thanks

I’m glad to know they’re still working on it but I’m just genuinely hoping for some more information for us about where they’re up to, what their goals still are just as I was anticipating 2.0 a while back. Feeling a little left in dark as we’ve not had any updates recently. Just hoping it’s all going ok.

All the information I have comes from Rabbit’s discord server. There are some leaks of the new OS and a small demo video. I know there hasn’t been an update in a long time because they’re really focused on OS2. But maybe @simon could do a little OS2 progress update here like he did on discord.

Yeah absolutely!

Someone asked about stability of OS2 on Discord and my reply was that I think of OS2 in terms of “usability” more than anything else. So every feature has been re-done to be a lot more usable and give people more ways of interaction, including touch and lots of quality of life improvements.

So for example, now when you use Vision, it sends a small thumbnail of the image into the same queries UX as a voice query, meaning it’s more of a feature rather than a totally separate “mode” with it’s own UX. This helps us streamline everything. Same with text input, which used to be the separate Terminal mode, which led to some weird situations where sometimes you’d get an error along the lines of “xyz is not available in Terminal Mode” - now it’s all the same mode with different ways of giving it input, so that’s much better.

In queries, you also have a dynamic mute/unmute button, in case you would rather read an answer than hear it. You have a button to follow up a voice query with a vision query. You have a text input button. And it supports the weather/stocks/etc dynamic widgets in the regular queries interface.

So these are just some examples of how a feature has been made a lot more usable.

Another example - Music is now a live widget that lives with the menu cards, which makes it easier to do other stuff on device while music is playing, and makes it easier to control and swipe away when done.

Of course, there are new features in OS2 also. Those are still in active development so I can’t say too much about them just yet.

That is awsome thank you so much for telling us! Quick question though is it possible to do beta testing for it because I know you said the alpha testers already got a build of it? Thank you so much!

You should have seen what Jesse showed us yesterday live on discord. He literally asked his Rabbit R1 in create mode “create a Snake game for the Rabbit R1” and the Intern created the game and it was running on his R1. This will allow us to create apps for our R1s and in the future share them on some kind of store. It’s really cool.

Sounds really great! I think it will be worth the wait!

Hey Connor, unfortunately the test group is closed right now and has been for a while. We haven’t even had the bandwidth to really support them as much as we would like recently, so they do have a build, but it’s not an up to date one compared to what staff are running.

I hope we will have more resources to support the existing test group and then hopefully expand it in the future though!

I know Jesse asked the team to look into it right after the announcement yesterday, so we’ll see what the conclusion is!
