Ok, as someone who’s traveling quite a bit internationally for work I thought I’d leave a review about R1’s translation capabilities. Since I’ve got the device I’ve been to Spain and Hungary and used R1 on both occasions. I do speak Spanish conversationally and can attest that the translation quality is the best I’ve ever experienced. And I have several timekettle earbuds, a S24U and a Vasco. No comparison! I don’t know how they do it (tested Persian and French too, I speak both) but the quality is good enough for business negotiations and that’s a first at least for me. The R1 has a lot of issues and unfulfilled promises that will hopefully get ironed out with the next updates but man, this little rabbit can translate like no other. One small complaint at the end: It would be cool if the screen timeout for longer answers wouldn’t kick in so fast and for longer questions it would be amazing if the device wouldn’t shut off if I press the button for a longer time.
Thank you for sharing your experience!
is it possible to set the Rabbit up so it auto translates in two directions. For example if someone is speaking only Spanish and someone only English, could the Rabbit facilitate the coversation in an easy way without resetting the languages?
Just say translate between Spanish and English and R1 is listening to both languages as soon as you press the button. It will give you the voice translation in Spanish or English respectively. Since it shows the answer on screen additionally you can use the translator even in noisy surroundings. It won’t work with the keyboard in terminal mode though…
I was doing bi directional translation of Indian languages - Indian to Indian and Indian to English etc and they work extremely well. Mind blowing actually.
