Translation - Voice and Text

I am playing with the bidirectional translator with some success. When working in Spanish, my ‘problem’ is that the speed of the words returned are very fast so it is hard to hear. I have not tested it with native speakers who can hear more quickly.

When I work with English to Armenian, I noticed the same for spead, but also that it returns the translation in Armenian script - which is very cool - BUT - many of us don’t know the script and rely on phonetic translation so we can ‘read’/‘pronounce’ - or try :-). It would be great if you could provide BOTH the script and phonetic translations on the screen…probably true for any language with a different script - chinese, japanese, korean, arabic, turkish, etc…as well.

I’m having a similar issue with Thai translation. The speed of the Rabbit R1 speaking Thai is so fast that no one can understand what is being said. Along with this, the volume is way too low. Luckily the script of the translation is accurate but the voice is useless. This may occur with other languages but I will have to test it.

I mostly wanted to use the R1 for Cantonese translations. I can speak Cantonese but minimal in reading traditional Chinese, so to me the translated script looks more or less correct but the speech is quite fast for me to tell what was said, as there doesn’t seem to be a way to repeat it ( well not obvious to me on repeat speech. )

So be nice to have the following:

  • Adjust speech speed
  • Re-run the speech of the script
  • Fix cantonese pronunciations (if they are incorrect)
  • Pinyin along with translated script (phonetic to help pronouncation)

I am hoping for American to English but apparently in the too hard basket…

I believe the rabbit would be a valuable tool for law enforcement dealing with the language issue when they have to deal with people who don’t speak their country language.
