I believe some experienced this already. I plugged my R1 in its usual recharge cable, started charging then suddenly the camera went into a loop of resetting / turning for a while. I tried different cables, power outlets, etc. no change.
My R1 do no charge since since. It stays off. Cannot start it.
There is a hidden rest button if you want to try it. (Be warned it will reset the R1 to factory settings it’s entirely up to you it may fix the problem I am not responsible for loss of data etc). On the side of the R1 is a sim slot take the sim tray out and look inside the R1, in the hole you will see a black button use something none metal and press hold the button for few seconds then let go. Try restarting the R1 and or try charging. You could also try before this another charger cable. Most usb C will work. And try a different charger brick and socket. It could be a corrupt system and or battery gone bad. Once it’s working just do the setup etc your account will still be on the rabbit hole and so should be the serial number of the R1. The system should pick it up and hopefully return it to as it was before reset but working. The other thing to try is plug the R1 into a pc and see if it’s being seen. You can try all the above before reset
Thank you. I tried all the options, hard reset included. The screen remains black… as if no power at all is going through. Used different cables, adapters, plugged directly to Mac, etc… same result. Nothing
How long have you had the r1 is it still under warranty?
Have you tried a support company ticket?
It could be the battery may need replacing
Have you flashed the device or is it still running on rabbit os
First gen, had it in first release batch 3 if I remember correctly… so likely no more warranty
It will be like mine first batch. You could open it and check battery is still connected as for replacement you can get a battery to fit inside however finding one with the same board connection will be hard without know the exact size there are a lot that look similar but may not fit. I have one that I upgraded the battery but had to solder it to the board and it’s bigger battery so I did a 3d print to extend the case. The new battery gives me a few days up to 7days stand by. If you open it you will need a thin metal strip like a blade and run it around the back it will eventually make the back lose and can take it off don’t pull the back fully off as battery it stuck to it and the short cable will unlock from the board. The battery is stuck on with double-sided tape. If the battery connector has come off it’s easy to just put it back into the socket on the board it just clips in. The other alternative is see if you can find a cheap rabbit R1 and get it it’s possible the battery will be good and system working it can then be registered to your account. I bought a second one cheap about £30 uk pounds off eBay. With great battery and immaculate condition with box. I use it for testing other operating systems like Ubuntu touch, android, etc.
