I use terminal mode more often than voice prompts for multiple reasons. Pronunciation can be tricky. Products, locations, and names can be misinterpreted as other words, etc. But one of my biggest hangups has been that in between “sessions” or “conversations”, I can’t see an obvious way to “wipe the slate clean” to prepare for the next. The AI responses are often very longwinded (and sometimes repetitive). So.. my issue is that it is not obvious how to clear this output.
When I ask the R1 about it, it gives me a long, wordy direction on how to clear the terminal output on both Linux and Windows, which is not what I intended to ask.
Maybe I’m a weird edge case as someone who is largely uncomfortable with the voice input method. But the intended use-case seems to be very voice-first, treating terminal mode as some kind of Easter egg bonus feature. It’s my go-to though if I’m using the R1.
(Bonus quirk 1: If I ask the R1 for some data, and then in the same prompt ask it to format the data as a table(for readability), the terminal mode output will state that it printed a table, but prints the data as a paragraph. Such output could be clarified to “I have printed the table to the Rabbit Hole website” or something similar, as the rabbit hole is where I later found the expected output.)
(Bonus quirk 2: If you ask a question in terminal mode and then turn the device upright, it will sometimes read the result out loud, which can be useful when you need to hear the pronunciation of a result. But if you do it soon enough for the output to be played audibly, it will usually not log the output to terminal mode; and if you do it too late, it may not play audibly (though it might still show the subtitles below the rabbit icon). A simpler suggestion here would be to match output mode (text) to input mode (text) and offer an obvious touchscreen button/option to read the output out loud in the interface somewhere. Maybe below the last line of text (which would also be a clear signal to the user that the output has concluded and is ready for the next input).)
