Feb 12th OTA put my r1 in a perpetual loop 😞

The Feb 12th OTA put my r1 in a perpetual loop (while I was using it in combination with LAM Playground). It’s been checking the update for over 10 hours, and still counting.
There is no way to reset the r1 while it is processing the update. Any ideas on how to get out of this loop?

PS: Why are updates forced without checking if the r1 is in use at that moment? @mattdomko @simon

Things I would try. Multi-button press to clear it (I think it is 5 taps). If that does not work, unplug it from power and see if that changes anything. Finally, if you feel desperate, I would consider letting it run out of power and then plug it back in and turn it on . I know its not what you want to hear but the pattern has been that updates will occur when they are available. Not always fun, but that has been the pattern.

@rodrop That is also what I was thinking.

  • I already tried letting it fix itself (10+ hours)
  • Reset (5 taps) doesn’t work. Each tap of the PTT button puts me in the Connectivity settings (Sim / WiFi)
  • Unplugging - doesn’t work.
  • I’m now letting the battery run out… (fingers crossed) :crossed_fingers:

Uh oh.

Reporting to the team now. Appreciate you raising this and sorry for the trouble. Luckily this doesn’t seem to be widespread, but we’ll figure it out.

It’s 8 taps to reboot, not 5, btw.

It worked! Quickly tap 8 times, regardless of what I see happening on the screen (I actually kept tapping until it reboot).
