Device Security

Maybe some level of security so if someone finds your device they can’t just use it. A PIN entered once a day, voice / facial recognition, secret handshake (button clicks), etc. Anything is better than nothing.

This somewhat exists! If you mark your r1 as lost from rabbithole, it’ll enter “Lost Mode” where it can display any contact info you choose (such as email or phone number) and nobody else will be able to use it.

But you may be thinking of some other kind of less formal screen lock, in which case we can definitely consider it.

Perhaps using the camera for facial recognition?

Yes definitely !, I feel a little exposed without a pin when I turn on my on my R1, knowing if I let it somewhere and didn’t know. Especially if an update in the future will allow us to see things in our Rabbit Hole.

Voice and face recognition would be a good implementation with the option of several voices ( for sleepy voice or drunk voice or sore throat  ( sorry , laughing at my own wit) and faces in settings.

FYI - This feedback is 100% heard and being discussed by engineering

Doubling down a bit at risk of getting a “talking to” for making public promises… I’ll personally throw something very heavy if we make access to journal data available on R1 without giving you a choice on whether or not it anyone holding your R1 can see it. I don’t expect you to open your R1 someday and “surprise, all my pictures are there”.

If I can throw in a suggestion for the technology department, it would be very beneficial if the hashes for facial recognition were stored on device r1 only. I think that would be in everyone’s interest. @mattdomko
