I saw this AI phone project at MWC, a no app phone powered by Perplexity, voice only interaction.

I recall they first showed this off last year, but now the only difference is with Perplexity added.
Interesting move. It’s been a while since a carrier/network was really involved as an OEM as well.
Yes it’s still a project and they plan a release for 2026, it’s will be under 1000$ but I think really more expensive than a 200$ R1, and they dont know which is the customer target, but the idea is in the air and they have the deutch telecom support.
I’m visualy impaired and using the Perplexity assistant on Android wich do quite well the same thing than the AI phone, the easy access to information via AI will be more common in the future and the R1 is really good for that and one of the first on the market with a unbeatable price
