Hi, I’m on the latest version of Chrome on Windows.
When selecting the search bar in the journal page it prompts for credit card infos.
This is not a major issue but it can cause some security concerns, like inputting on search sensitive data that could be sniffed out.
I have some active extensions like Grammarly, Scribe, AdBlock and tweak, so maybe this is related to the extensions rather than the page itself, but it shouldn’t be the case.
Here is a screenshot:
I’ve done a little search, it’s a simple autocomplete option that Chrome activates on input fields and can be set to display: none depending on the CC info field like autocomplete:“cc-exp-month”.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply @alex.hent, later I’ll fix my own settings but I’m worried for the average user that maybe can insert some sensitive data by misclicking.
Obviously I’m pretty sure that more competent people are looking at this kind of things, I’m just an amateur in this field.
Now I’m off to work, maybe later I’ll check if anything relevant can pass through by doing so.
Anyway thanks for the useful info and have a good day.
Yes, it’s just like in IT, everything that makes the world more comfortable for us doesn’t necessarily make it safer. So I can only advise everyone not to make it too comfortable and not to use auto-complete or save any data in the web browser!
While this is strange I wouldn’t consider it something to be worried about. To my understanding, all journal entries are loaded upon one request so theoretically, it should be able to query that locally. Even then, I have never seen this so I’m fairly sure it’s a one-off.
