I may have overlooked this feature so maybe someone could help me out. I would like to be able to use the R1 to scan QR codes for various purposes: websites, restaurant menus, entrance doors, etc. Is the R1 already capable of doing this? If not, do you believe that this would be a helpful feature? Thanks in advance!
What do you want done with the data from the qr code?
- saved to journal?
- Read aloud?
- Emailed to you?
- Shown on screen?
Thank you for responding!
QR Codes are used currently for so many things. The first thing that comes to mind is restaurant menus. Other ideas are the ability to share contact information with others or enabling payments, product details, discounts. There are so many useful ways QR Codes could be used with the R1 to increase it’s functionality.
It would be nice to have the flexibility to show the QR information on the R1 Screen. If QR code discounts could be saved then saved to the rabbit hole journal then they could then be retrieved when we go out to a restaurant or shopping mall. We ask R1 to retrieve the QR Code from the restaurant, they scan it and then we have a discount price! This should work with all retail.
The ability to display and collect scanned QR codes or to read QR codes opens the opportunity in the retail world that would soon pay for the price of the R1 just in discounts.
QR codes represent all kinds of information. The R1 has the ability to read the QR code because it has a camera and it has the ability to retrieve and display a QR Code because of the ability to save things in the Rabbit Hole and the great display it offers!
What would be the icing on the cake is for R1 to have the ability to “create” QR codes that could be stored and shared with others!
Just my thoughts. I hope you guys will consider this functionality.
Thanks again for responding!

So, like, if I made the r1 let you:
- Scan a QR Code
- A thing popped up that said, “Name”
- You could type in the name and click save
Then, on another tab, you saw a list of names
- tap to open
- Has an edit/delete button
You would be pretty happy?
(On mobile, excuse the brevity )
Well, it’s certainly a step in the right direction! My greatest interest is in the R1 being able to scan the QR code at restaurants in order for it to show me the restaurant menu or for other retail businesses that are using QR codes for discounts, etc. Also, when I travel there are many motels that require you to use a temporary QR code to gain access to the parking lot as well as the rooms.
Storing QR codes would be great for re-entering my complex. It would be nice to pull it up for the gate camera to see and to open the gate with. Also storing my own personal QR code with name, address, telephone number, etc., would be nice to pull up to share with others.
There’s lots of functions! Some restaurants actually allow you to pay your bill by scanning the QR code but this may be more than the R1 is capable of at this point.
Thanks,
Doug
It looks like you covered all the bases! Great job! I’ll look forward to using it.

This is really a very good feature to have in the R1. Looking forward to this!
