Has anyone here picked up the Nvidia Jetson Orin Nano Super? I’m considering getting one to experiment with edge AI and would appreciate any insights on setup, performance, or cool projects you’ve tried!
I am glad you posted this note. I have been waiting for notices from a couple of Nvidia’s preferred vendors (they were all out of stock). I just checked and Arrow seems to have it. So, just ordered it. Note, there are quite a few sites that indicate they have it. I have found a couple that if you read the fine print it states similar to, and or the preferred vendors are indicating out of stock and finally, there are sites selling it for two to three times the original price.
What are you going to built first? A drone with a solar panel?
lol, I might pass on the drone and panel right now. I think I will go with just the Chatbot for now. I want to bring a ‘closed’ system to work to show everyone how it could work. I hope to get the unit next week (according to the order page) and hope to have it up a few days after. I will update you when if I finish.
Glad you got one!
If you need some inspiration, check out the community projects and tutorials at the Jetson AI Lab.
Looks like this is a project you might be interested in: How to Run a ChatGPT-Like LLM on NVIDIA Jetson board - Hackster.io
Thank you. I will provide an update after I get it up and running. I watched a few tutorials on getting it started and reviewed the get started info already.
It wont take the place of my R1 though, love my rabbit
I ordered one! I started by setting up Ollama and Stable Diffusion. They both worked well, however I need to manually enable them in the terminal after rebooting. I’m going to check out the Nvidia forums to see if I can figure out how to get them to automatically launch. If you happen to know how to fix this, lmk!
Have you had a chance to set yours up yet?
I got mine this evening. I am going to play with it this weekend. I watched a couple videos (and read the documentation) that recommends purchasing an SSD and a memory card. Are you doing that ?
I saved a couple videos where one guy had some really good videos. I will go find the links and share.
Awesome! You will need a micro SD card (at least 64gb), but the SSD is optional. I had a spare SD card on hand so I went that route, but I might add an SSD later. Just trying to figure out how I want to use it first before I put more money into it.
I watched the YouTube tutorial from Ominous Industries. It was very easy to follow along. One thing to note is that his device in the tutorial already had Jetpack 6 installed, but my device was outdated (firmware version 3). I had to upgrade to V5, and then Jetpack 6 prior to following the steps in that tutorial. I also bought mine from Arrow, so you might have the same experience. I’ll see if I can find the tutorial for updating the firmware from V3.
Here’s the guide to upgrade from V3 > V5 > V6: 🚀 Initial Setup Guide - Jetson Orin Nano - NVIDIA Jetson AI Lab
It’s the same guide that Ominous Industries covers in the tutorial, except you will do steps 2-5, which are skipped in the video.
Those are the videos I watch. Very good videos. Also, now that you have your own LLM setup. You should ask your LLM how to do the autoboot for your system
Haha yes, exactly. Ollama helped a little but it didn’t quite resolve the issue. I’m going to try again this weekend to see if I can get it running.
