My r1 just landed a few hours ago and I like it. Its nice and no regrets. 
I’m just wondering… Can the device recognise music without a connected service?
The answer given when asked is “sure, just play the music” I’ve tried a few methods of getting it to work without success.
Does it require a connected music service to do this or is there a specific way this needs to be queried?
Do you mean like a Shazam style service? If so, we don’t currently have anything like that, although it can find a song based on the lyrics, if you ask something like “what’s the song that contains the lyrics…”

I had it on my list of great functions because it because I find the mobile a proper fumble of steps and tend to use it often when out and about.
It does seem the answer varies on the device with the context of query
I didn’t expect Rome to be built in a day though and was a bit stunned when it returned the answer.
