Hello guys. I am really new, just got mine today… and I tried to ask some information about Donald Sutherland , general biography specially that he passed away, really sad about that but guess what!? R1 said he is still alive. I checked two times or three and always the same answer I he is alive and still performing in acting … so… how updated and reliable are the informations R 1 gives us ? What if we rely on his answers … ?! Thanks and await to hear your opinion after you ask R1 also to check it out … great to be here everyone

there is a disclaimer in the setting section, advise you to read that first. you ll have your answer there.
Probably would have worked if you told it to ask Perplexity, or just told it to “search” for the info.

Unfortunately this is the state of AI as it stands today. There isn’t one system that is 100% fool proof.
Hallucinations are a thing and they are unfortunate. Generally speaking, in my testing, whenever I have asked a serious question that could have consequences the r1 has gone out of its way to ensure I understand that i should check that information with another source - usually a professional - to confirm the information.

Hello. Wait . How do you ask perplexity ?? Don’t you as r1 normal as usual?
I think this depends on the LLM that is being triggered. OpenAI is known for having a cutoff limit on information, compared to Perplexity.
For real time information, I’d recommend specifically asking Perplexity in your prompt, ie “ask perplexity xyz”
