> @simon : of any other suggestions, languages integration is the one with most votes. We know it’s on your roadmap but :
>
> 1. can you provide a release frame?
> 2. can these votes modify your agenda (that would mean rabbit cares for what users do really want) ?
> 3. can you update us on the actual state of languages integration?

I haven’t been given a timeline yet, unfortunately, so I can’t provide that.
Yes, the votes can modify the agenda, they are an important data point. But, they must still be balanced against other data points and other business needs and requirements, and they of course can’t impact the amount of time it takes to do something with the resources that we have.

I don’t have an update on the status right now but as soon as I have one I’ll be sure to share it!

## Avoiding Hard-Coded Text in Multi-Language Applications

A critical aspect of developing a multi-language app is managing text and user interface elements. Hard-coding text directly into the application in a certain language, can lead to numerous challenges…

### 1. Flexibility and Maintainability

#### Dynamic Text Management

By using variables to manage text, developers can quickly and easily change, add, or remove text without modifying the core code.

#### Configuration Files

Storing text in configuration files (e.g., JSON, XML, or properties files) enables developers to separate the user interface from the application logic. _(Separation of concerns)_

### 2. Simplified Localization and Internationalization

#### Language-Specific Files

Using variables allows for the creation of language-specific files. Each file can contain translations for a given language. P. Example: You could have `en.json` for English, `es.json` for Spanish…

#### Consistency Across Languages

When text is managed through variables, it ensures consistency across different languages. If a term or phrase needs to be updated, it can be done in one place, and the change will reflect across all instances where that variable is used. 😉

### 3. Error Reduction and Quality Assurance

#### Detection of Hard-Coded Text

Implementing a system that detects hard-coded text can significantly reduce errors. Automated tools can scan the codebase to identify instances of hard-coded strings, ensuring that all text is appropriately managed through variables.

#### Quality Control

With a centralized approach to text management, quality assurance becomes more manageable. Review processes can be implemented to ensure that all translations are accurate and contextually appropriate before deployment.

### 4. Scalability

#### Easy Addition of New Languages

As your application grows and reaches new markets, adding support for additional languages becomes a straightforward process. You simply need to create a new configuration file for the language, without the need for extensive code changes.

#### Adaptability to User Feedback

Using variables allows for quick adjustments based on user feedback. If users suggest changes to certain texts or translations, these can be implemented swiftly without impacting the overall application structure.

for the moment it is possible to use other languages as input in terminal mode not vocally, output works with other languages but with an English accent. If they want to sell many devices, multilingual support including Italian (which is my native language) is essential!

Hello! Does the discussion here include vernacular, nonstandard dialects, and regional languages? For instance, in Spain, we have several co-official and protected languages, alongside Spanish (Castilian), which is official throughout the country. These include:

- **Catalan**
- **Galican**
- **Basque**
- **Aranese**
- **Asturian**

…and there are even more.

These languages represent a rich tapestry of cultural and linguistic diversity. How are these and other regional languages considered in our community discussions? Are they also factored into the optimal equation?

Many thanks and best regards!

So if this should work with the different languages one day, then r1 should definitely be able to speak Klingon too, I think, of course that’s just a suggestion!

But it would significantly increase the demand for r1.

More and more customers from Europe are buying the Rabbit R1. I bought it because it was planned to have French language. I will be really disappointed if I have to wait a long time. This should be the priority for the company now…

Hi @Karim ,
Hi @leahcim ,
Hi @cldferrilab ,
Hi all,

I agree with you. To have much more content and use cases, language packages should be get a high priority.

Also the ‘teach-mode’ should get a very high priority.

In the following post I have created a trick, which I have found in some tests with my rabbit r1.

It could be improve the community-request for more languages at the moment in this early development:

Spanish is the world’s second-most spoken native language after Mandarin Chinese\*\* ; the world’s fourth-most spoken language overall after English, Mandarin Chinese, and Hindustani (Hindi-Urdu); and the world’s most widely spoken Romance language.

Ya ofrecí al equipo de Rabbit ayudar con esto. Espero que se pueda empezar a implementar en breve.

Hello, how are you?

Please understand my message, thank you. I am in France and I have received my Rabbit which is frustrating me a lot. Why? Because it only supports the English language! For me, if I pronounce a singer’s name in English and don’t pronounce it well because I don’t have a good accent, it suggests a random artist or asks me to rephrase. Look at the second-hand resale sites in France, there are thousands! Why? Because the French language is not supported!!! So when is the French language update coming? Since January, it has been written that multilingual support is coming…??

FYI I’ve got a reply from Rabbit:

Thank you for reaching out to rabbit support. I appreciate your suggestion about having the rabbit r1 to respond in the target language with the corresponding voice and pronunciation, rather than defaulting to English. We truly value your feedback and are glad you took the time to share your thoughts with us.

I’ve noted your request and will be forwarding it to our team for consideration. If you have any other ideas or questions, please feel free to let me know.

Our team is actively working on multiple aspects of the r1, and we carefully consider all feedback from our community, including the high demand for native language support as well as basic features like calendars and calculators. We understand that balancing various priorities is essential to improving overall user experience.

The updates we’re currently focusing on are aimed at enhancing the r1’s core functionalities and exploring new capabilities that we believe will add significant value for our users. While we understand the importance of the features you’ve mentioned, our development process involves evaluating and prioritizing features based on numerous factors.

Your input is valuable, and we’ll make sure to pass your concerns along to our product and development team. We are committed to listening to our community and continually improving the r1.

Thank you for your patience and continued support. We’re dedicated to making the r1 better with each update, and we appreciate your engagement in this process.

r1 is a similar but also a different class of device compared to a smartphone, so I understand this concern, but if the developers at Rabbit and especially those responsible don’t really do everything wrong that can go wrong, then this concern is unfounded.
