# Have an option to limit charging to 80%

The R1 has a non-replaceable Li-Ion battery. So the maximum life span of the R1 is defined by the battery life span.
Li-Ion batteries live significantly longer if the time spent charged above 80% is limited. Given that the R1 will usually make it through the day on 80%, my suggestion is to have an option to limit the battery charge to a maximum of 80%.
This was already a common feature in many EVs and is now also used by Apple (at least on their new iPads).

But you can easily replace the battery in the r1, the device is not glued or waterproof. Limiting the 1000 mAh should therefore be an option in the settings if you absolutely want it that way.

I guess “easily replaced” is subjective.
I have not tried to open the R1 myself but if I watch the teardown video by iFixit the device _is_ glued and needs a prying tool to open (risking damage to the case), the battery is glued to the case and seems to have a custom connector to connect to the MB (as opposed to 2 terminals that can be soldered) so would need to be available as a custom part.
Where do you get the information that the battery is user replaceable? Or “easily replaced”?
Yes, of course it should be an option, what is the point of a 1,000 mAh battery if you can only use 800 mAh.

Yes, you are right, of course it is subjective. I got the information from the pictures I found online.
